The primary place this fails for me is mushrooms in the woods, fortunately my Gorillapod is small enough to usually be in my backpack.</description>

If I'm pushing the handheld threshold, I've found I can buy a stop or so with the following trick: Put the camera in burst-shooting mode and just hold down the shutter for four or five frames. The first one will probably be bad due to hand shake (motion from pressing the shutter), but by the second or third frame your hand will have settled down and you've got a better chance of a decent frame. Using a tripod is of course preferred, but if you have to fly without ...</description>
