I found this flower growing near the garden — I think its form and colors are striking. What is it?
Another new garden find and now a solid member on my list of favorite berries: thimbleberry.

How did you get that last shot?
Did you use flash? It looks like it’s artificially lit but yet it’s not over exposed.
@Tim: I was shooting with the sun at my back — it’s natural lighting. The shadows you see are other thimbleberry leaves blocking the sunlight that first filtered through the firs and cedars.
