I’m looking for help. I need some advice for taking photos of bright winter moons. Tonight’s moon, waxing gibbous, presented the usual set of problems of being far brighter than the surrounding and we had fast moving clouds added to the mix meaning long exposures blurred any details.

I took maybe 30 shots and only one is even slightly usable and it’s not very well composed with the moon being almost dead center. You can make out the moving clouds so that’s kinda cool but overall I can’t even get close to capturing what I see.

I’ll keep trying but my night photography shootings continue to disappoint. Fittingly, I watched Journey to Palomar while writing this post.
