We took advantage of the three day weekend to travel into the Olympics and see the spring runoff of the Dungeness River. The weather was pleasant and wonderfully warm in the sun. We had a picnic along side the river and found numerous flowers and mushrooms along the trailside. A great start to summer.

Along the way we found what my daughter is calling a “yellow pine cone” growing under some ferns. I have no idea what this is and haven’t been able to find something similar in either my wildflower or mushroom guides.
